Food Allergy Guidelines for Schools

This training module, produced by the Nassau County Department of Health, was presented at Nassau BOCES on March 10, 2006. It is designed to help schools better understand food allergies and prepare for the possibility of an anaphylactic reaction in a student.

The purpose of this bill is to establish a statewide policy to be used on a voluntary basis to manage the risk of food allergy and anaphylaxis in schools.

Preparedness and Community Response to Pandemics

This free online course, offered by the School for Public Health at the University at Albany, State University of New York, covers the following:

  • the public health role in emergency response during an influenza outbreak or pandemic
  • how to recognize unusual events that might indicate an emergency and describe appropriate action
  • how to describe your functional role(s) in emergency response and apply flexible thinking to unusual challenges within your functional role.
