Office of Emergency Management

A message from Commissioner: Richard Corbett

The Nassau County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), through a revision of the Nassau County Charter in 2002 was duly established to coordinate the County’s efforts during natural, technological, and civil hazards that may affect our County. OEM is responsible for the mitigation, planning/preparedness, response, and recovery efforts associated with such events. Through many planning and preparedness initiatives, such as the Nassau Schools Emergency Planning Consortium, the staff at OEM remains vigilant in preparing local and our County’s government along with the residents should an emergency occur.

Each resident has an important role in the County’s preparedness efforts. By being prepared themselves, each resident has assisted OEM in helping to develop a more resilient County. We encourage residents to assemble emergency go-kits, having a plan in place for themselves and their families, and being aware of others with special needs such as seniors or those with disabilities, in order to better prepare. Utilizing our new state of the art facility and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) located in Bethpage, Nassau County OEM is ready to serve the residents of this great County in its time of need.
