A message from Peter La Duca, Assistant Director
Health & Safety Training and Information Service

Nassau BOCES is a partnership of the County’s school districts and is dedicated to providing the best possible education for learners of all ages. To accomplish this mission, we must also be able to help school districts create a learning environment that is safe and secure.

Events of the last decade, including Columbine, 9/11, Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, Coronavirus and the threat of new pandemics, have changed the world and caused us to re-evaluate how we manage our school campuses. Never before have the four basic tenants of emergency planning been so important: Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery.

Nassau BOCES has created this Web site to maximize emergency planning and response efforts and help assure favorable outcomes. Here you will find cutting-edge training programs, emergency planning templates and guides, links to important federal, state and local agencies, resources from school districts across the country, emergency alerts, and the most current information related to emergency response.

Nassau BOCES is a nationally recognized leader in emergency planning and response for schools and, along with its County partners--Office of Emergency Management, Police Department, Health Department, and Department of Mental Health--will continue to support schools in all crisis management activities.
